Who we are.

Nichols Knows Books, LLC is a 100% member owned self publishing services company. The company started as a self publishing project for managing member Courtney Berrier. In the process of writing her first novel and researching publishing avenues, the endless stream of information on how to traditionally or self publish was overwhelming: What is a vanity press and why is it bad? Why do I need my own ISBNs? What is an aggregator and what do they offer me? Each answer led into another question and the rabbit hole of information on publishing seemed never ending. Furthermore, this began to complicate and take away from the main goal- writing the book. This is more than likely the case for you as well but it doesn't have to be! Nichols Knows Books is here to assist you through the writing and publishing process and what works for you, striving to make self publishing as simple as possible for new and indie authors, at competitive costs.

What we do.

We offer a variety of self publishing services ranging from single à la carte options to packaged self publishing services. À la carte options include proofreading, copy/line editing, book cover design, author branding, and website creation. Packaged publishing services consist of editing and marketing packages that will guide you on your way to being a self published author! Note that Nichols Knows Books is not a hybrid publisher  - it is a self publishing services company. As such, authors retain all self publishing rights including the full copyright of their manuscript and all royalties earned. You are free to contract with/sell to a traditional publisher or sell your movie rights, etc. at any time. No false guarantee is made as to the success or sales potential of a manuscript.

Where our name comes from.

"Nichols Knows" is a play on "Nichols Nose." Growing up, Courtney and her siblings made it well known to anyone within sniffing range, that their button nose was a dominant feature in the family. When examining ultrasound photos, baby pictures, and even passing reflections, the first thought was always "there's the Nichols Nose." The Nichols Nose became a point of pride. Courtney's writing is also a point of pride for her and she wants it to be the same for you. She has a nose for each individual's strengths and weaknesses and wants to put that to use - assisting others on their path to self publishing.
